Lorraine
a
Malena

Our Story
In
2004, writer Neil
Gaiman hosted a show for the Fox
Movie Channel called " 13 Nights Of Fright".
They
found him a real life Morticia Addams to play his dark, Goth un-dead
silent assistant. Her name was Malena. Neil also had a living assistant
back home. Her name is
Lorraine
. Little did he know, at this point,
they were very similar. They liked the same kind of clothes, the
same music, and both had an affinity for dead and sparkly things.
After seeing 13 Nights of Fright,
Lorraine
went to Malena's website and wrote her a letter telling her how much she
loved the show and asked her if she would do a reading. (Malena's
pretty magic like that ) They
spoke for about three hours that night and haven't stopped since.
It
soon became clear what they liked best in the world was music. And one
by one the songs came together and so did the music. Lorraine and Malena continue to inspire each other in all areas of their careers; writing, singing, playing (they both play violin) and of course blogging!
After their freshman album was released in 2005, Chris Ewen from the
Future Bible Heroes asked if they wanted to work on "The Hidden
Variable" project, a compilation album with songs written by Neil
Gaiman, Gregory Maguire, Peter Straub, Emma Bull, Charles De Lint, Poppy
Z. Brite, Shelley Jackson, Harvey Jacobs, Caitlin R. Kiernan, China
Mieville, Martha Soukup and Lemony Snicket. The songs are all mixed and
ready to go, now it's video and PR time. They finished their first video with their new band, Hidden Variable this summer in Fire Island. To listen to the new song excerpts, click here.
